A hugely successful industry publication, The New Zealand Beekeeper journal has been published as a standalone magazine by the National Beekeeper’s Association 11 months of the year since 1939. In 2016 the National Beekeepers’ Association was restructured to include the wider industry and became Apiculture New Zealand which now runs the publication.
Prior to this the magazine was part of another publication issued by the orchardists and poultry growers. It came into its own in 1939 and remained fairly constant in look and feel as an informational resource for New Zealand Beekeepers until the 1950s when it changed to an A5 booklet.
The 1980’s saw the size increase to A4 where it remains to this day, the only other major change since then has been the addition of bespoke imagery which increased the visual appeal of the publication.
Certa Solutions is proud to have partnered with The New Zealand Beekeeper journal for the last 10 years. The staff at Certa Solutions work very closely with Apiculture New Zealand to ensure a quality read is delivered every time.
We have been responsible for all of the advertising sales and production of the 40-80 page magazine since 2006. Apiculture New Zealand supplies all of the written content, images and editing.
The subscription base is close to 800 each month but twice a year in July and October that number swells to 8000 when every beekeeper in the country is provided a copy.
Over time the printing process for the magazine has gone through many changes and it is currently produced on both Certa Solution’s offset and digital printers.
The publication continues to thrive and is a must read for all beekeepers and suppliers. Very much a mutually beneficial partnership, production of the magazine is an important part of the suite of services and products that Certa Solutions continue to offer their clients.
